The Fentener van Vlissingen Fund will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on 11 April. Founded in 1961 by SHV and financed by this family company, the fund supports and promotes artistic and cultural projects in the city and province of Utrecht. As a gift to residents and visitors of the city of Utrecht, the fund is commissioning a public work of art of international stature.
Several artists from a variety of disciplines will be invited to submit a proposal. The names of the artists will be published later this year. The envisaged location of the work of art is, symbolically, the bridge close to the SHV building on Rijnkade. The donation of this public artwork is intended as the fund’s contribution to the city’s major renovation works.
